2025 has been another wild one for the Hoefer Gainford Family!

The biggest news is that in May we adopted half-bunny/half-girl, Olivia. And what a joy it’s been. Then, as most of you know, the next day, we looked at each other and decided we’d be moving back to Canada sooner than we’d planned. As soon as possible, in fact. So, in August, now a family of 4 humans and 3 cats, we packed up our lives in L.A. and headed North. And yeah – it’s still cold here.

So, that’s the big stuff. Here’s some less dramatic news.
At the beginning of the year, Gerry decided that if he was going to be working for “The Man,” that he would be that man, so he left his corporate job behind and now works for ZeroPrem – a company co-owned with his friend. He now gets to work longer hours, but mostly on PST time.

He also started back at school, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He’s pretending that it’s all about his writing career, but there are suspicions that it’s really so he can say he’s a college student.

Ursula has returned to Living Wellness Centre, but as an Acupuncturist. The 4 minute commute is everything.

Adrian started Tree School and in an effort to explain what that is – yesterday he came home with his Muddy and water bottle COVERED in mud because he had a lot of dirt mountains to climb after his nap in the yurt. He comes home tired, and has lots of stories about visiting Farmer Shelly’s, or the horses, chickens, or goats. There hasn’t been any snow here yet, but we are in the market for a lined muddy, because it’s coming! Adrian’s learning to ride a bike has a million questions for everything. Literally a million.

After a bit of a rough start with getting back to daycare, Olivia now runs to the door without looking back, and by all accounts is a very clever girl. She’s starting to potty train, loves Ms. Rachel, and adores her big brother. She’s very curious and possibly a bit cheeky – her daycare may or may not have had to add an extra lock to the gate because someone figured out how to open the first one.
